National program on using safe water in rural area

The implementation of a national program on safe water and rural environmental hygiene since 2006 has helped raise the amount of the rural population who enjoy safe water to 72% in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum.

The results have been made by building and upgrading 79 safe water constructions
The province has also assisted households in the building of 1,728 rest-rooms and expanded safe water constructions for schools and medical stations.
The province sets a target to raise the number of rural residents who access safe water to 90% by 2015.

The English book about Le Thanh Huy will be sold on Nov 13 in HCM city

The English book is translated from Vietnamese, including touching articles about a young citizen of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Le Thanh Thuy

On November 9, Tuoi Tre Newspaper (Youth Newspaper) officially released “Give me just a little more time” book in English.
The book was translated from Vietnamese to English and is a collection of emotional articles about young citizen of HCMC Le Thanh Thuy and other thrilling stories in the programme “Thuy’s wishes” for cancer childrens.
The book will be sold at Sunflower Festival “For the benefit of child cancer patients” on November 13 in HCMC, Hanoi and Youth Newspaper office.
Until now, “Thuy’s wishes” received more than 6 billions VND to support the child cancer patients./

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has allowed Sai Gon Culture General Corporation and
 Single Member Ltd to hold the seventh Ho Chi Minh City Book Fair 2012. 
The seventh Ho Chi Minh City Book Fair 2012 with theme “Knowledge of Books – Integration and Development” will open from March 19th to March 25th , 2012 at Le Van Tam Park, District No 1. The book fair aims at encouraging cultural and spiritual values among customers.
Ho Chi Minh City Book Fair is held every two years and has been considered a cultural festival of the City.
The sixth Ho Chi Minh City Book Fair at Le Van Tam Park was held from March 15th to 21st , 2011 and attracted 700.000 visitors and more than 4 millions books were sold with the total sale being 20 billion VND./.

"For a Renovated and Integrated Vietnamese Cinema" will run from December 15-17

Seventeen films will compete for the Golden Lotus award at the 17th National Film Festival to be held in the central province of Phu Yen next month.
Themed "For a Renovated and Integrated Vietnamese Cinema", the festival will run from December 15-17.
The films are set to be diversified and distinct, with little difference between those produced by private studios and State-owned facilities.
"The festival will erase the preconception that films produced by State-owned studios are main stream while private studios focus on entertainment," said veteran director Hai Ninh.
Around 10 out of the total number of films will be those of private studios including Thien Su 99 (Angel 99) and Cong Chua Teen va Ngu Ho Tuong (Teenage Princess and Five Bodyguards), which won the Vietnam Cinematography Association promising actress award in 2009, both produced by the Phuoc Sang Studio.
"I'm producing films without Cinematography Department support. Attending the festival is my sole responsibility," said Phuoc Sang, the studio's director. The opening and closing ceremonies, including the official awards ceremony, will be aired live on the national VTV.
The festival will additionally host activities such as the Vietnamese Film, Reality and Solutions seminar, an exhibition themed Four Decades of the Vietnam Film Festival, and exchanges with the audience in remote areas, soldiers and students.
The 17th festival aims to honour national film industry achievements during 2009-11 while providing artists, managers, producers and film distributors with an opportunity to exchange experiences and promote development. Concurrently, it will enable contact, communication and exchange among artists, film producers and audiences while looking back over the four-decade legacy of the festival itself. 

“ASEAN Art Exhibition” will be held until Dec 24

An exhibition entitled “ASEAN Art Exhibition” is being held at the Museum Pacifika, Indonesia on the occasion of the 19th ASEAN Summit.

On the occasion of the 19th ASEAN Summit, theannual meeting held by the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and related Conferences,, the host nation Indonesia is holding an exhibition entitled “ASEAN Art Exhibition” at the Museum Pacifika in the space of Nusa Dua, the location for Conference.
The exhibition introduces a number of typical works of artists from 10 member countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The works showcased are diverse, expressing the spirit of “unity in diversity” in ASEAN.
The representative of Vietnam, the painter Le Pho, one of the Vietnamese painters known by many painters in the world, took to the exhibition his painting “The Temple in Laos”. The temple is painted on fabric.
The exhibition is on display in the museum and will run until November 24, 2011./.

Uncle Ho’s stilt house at the Temple started to be constructed

(CPV) - On the morning of November 15th, Tra Vinh province began construction of Uncle Ho’s stilt house at the Temple to Uncle Ho which is a historical site in Vinh Hoi, Long Duc commune, Tra Vinh province.

The work, with total investment of 5.2 billion VND, designed by the Center for DisplayApplications under the Ho Chi MinhMuseum, includes main items such as :Uncle Ho’s stilt housematerials and objects used will adhere as in the prototype. The project is expected to be completed on April 30, 2012.
The Temple to Uncle Ho in Tra Vinh province was built in 1971. During the war, the temple was destroyed many times by the enemy. However, the temple had become the symbol of resistance in the heart of people in Tra Vinh. Every year on the death of President Ho Chi Minh, people there still regularly organize Uncle Ho’s death anniversary to express their gratitude to him.
The project will meet the expectations of the Party, government and people in Tra Vinh province, especially those who do not have the opportunity to visit the working place of Uncle Ho in Hanoi. At the same time, the stilt house is also a place to keep precious souvenirs of Uncle Ho.

Vietnamese Culturalal programme in the Ukraine will be taken place from November 14th to 20th

The Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ukraine Ministry of Culture are hosting a Vietnamese Culturalal programme in the Ukraine between November 14th and 20th.

The programme will be conducted in three big cities, including the Ukraine National Conservatory of Music inKiev (November 15th), the Kharkov Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kharkov (November 17th) and the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theatre in Odessa (November 19th).
Apart from several performances by famous Vietnamese artists Ta Minh Tam, Thanh Thuy, Vo Ha Tram, Vuong Linh and Linh Nga, the Vietnamese delegation will introduce Ao Dai fashion from designer Thuan Viet, he is also introducing his four new collections shown by models Huong Giang, Thuy Dung, My Linh and Vu Hoang Diep./.

“Ba Vi beautiful photo” contest was launched

(CPV) - “Ba Vi beautiful photo” contest was co-launched by the Ba Vi district People’s Committee and Archi Media Company on November 15th, 2011 aiming to introduce the hidden charm of Ba Vi region from older times to now.

In recent years, Ba Vi has tended to develop comprehensively, especially after it was merged into Hanoi. The image of Ba Vi is gradually becoming more familiar and closer to people in the capital. Together with beautiful scenery and historical thousand-year marks, Ba Vi is becoming the largest ecological tourism destination in the north.

A ceremony to strenthen the traditional cultural exchange between Vietnam and Cambodia took place

The opening ceremony of Cambodian Culture Week 2011 was held in Ho Chi Minh Municipal Theatre on November 17 to strengthen the traditional cultural exchange between Vietnam and Cambodia.

A 35-member Cambodian art troupe are giving four performances in Vietnam from November 16-23, with two in HCM City and two in Vinh Long province.

Cambodian artists will perform traditional dances, namely Apsara, Suoy, Panpipe and Suvanna Machaha, which reflect both legendary stories and the daily life of Cambodian people.

This is the third year the Cambodian Culture Week has been held in Vietnam./.
